ABOUT SONJA
Sonja is the author of four biographies, a travel guide and a book of short stories. She has worked as a journalist, editor, magazine contributor and correspondent in Hamburg, Germany, New York and Los Angeles for a daily newspaper, petra magazine, Cosmopolitan, MAX, Elle and Architectural Digest. After the fires in Pacific Palisades, California, January 2025, she and her husband and dog took refuge in the mountains of Scottsdale, Arizona.
She has studied short story and creative writing at UCLA and loves to listen to story Podcasts. Her favorites are The New Yorker Fiction, PRI - Selected Shorts and The Moth as well as German podcasts.
In 2016 she started the Palisades Woman’s Writers Group - PaliPens - which attracted incredibly talented women from her neighborhood who are all working on promising projects. The group met every month in person, now on ZOOM.
In November 2025 Sonja started the Scottsdale Woman's Writers Group - Troonies.
Her stories were performed at the New Short Fiction Series in Los Angeles, where established actors brought her characters to life.
